Georgia Lampman

June 27, 1933 — April 24, 2021

Orlando

Georgia Ann Lampman, age 87, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on April 24, 2021.  The daughter of the late Claude V. Jack and Ruth M. Smith, she was born on June 27, 1933 in Lansing, Michigan.  She was predeceased by her husband Scott D. Lampman and sons Mark D. Lampman and Kurt D. Lampman.  She is survived by her sons Clark D. Lampman, Bruce E. Lampman (Lori) and Jack S. Lampman (Michelle), a daughter Linda R. Pereira (“Tony”), 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Georgia and Scott were married in Lansing, Michigan on May 6, 1954 after securing the funds needed by performing a dog census for the City of Lansing. Soon thereafter, due to Scott’s profession as an Ironworker, they purchased a mobile home and moved the Midwest as needed to be close to work while they started their family.  In 1962, they had saved enough money to buy a lot and build a home in Spring Lake, Michigan. With Georgia taking the role of stay-at-home-mom, they lived there raising their family until June of 1972 when they relocated to the Conway area of Orlando Florida.

Once settled, Georgia began her career.  She worked for a time for a radio based religious program known as “The Methodist Hour”.  It was during this time that she was offered the opportunity to travel to Israel. One of her proudest moments was walking the Via Dolorosa (the stations of the cross) in Jerusalem.  Later, Georgia and Scott formed their own business, SDL Steel, and secured contracts for work on multiple pavilions during the construction of EPCOT as well as other locations on Disney property. Her toughness on the job sites was recognized as she was assigned the CB radio handle of “Barracuda”.  There were many ironworkers that chose to deal with Scott than go before Georgia.  When the work at EPCOT wound down, they liquidated the company and Georgia went to work as an Administrative Aide in the Budget and Finance Office for the City of Orlando.  She was very proud of being on the transition team when the government moved to the new building on Orange Avenue. She was most proud of the times she volunteered to guide residents on tours of the building.  She retired from the City after 14 years of service.

Georgia was a long time member of Eastern Star. She was a Past Matron of Orlando 131 and Mizpah 190.  Early in 2021, she was awarded a 50 year service pin by the organization. Georgia was a long time member of her church, Grace Covenant Presbyterian and served as an Elder.
