Gerald Arch Spain was born on June 7, 1944 in Bonne Terre, MO to Joe F. and Ethel L. Spain. He is preceded in death by his son, Joel Van Spain; sister, Alberta; brother Gene. He is survived by his wife Teresa; son, Adam Lucas Spain; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth; grandchildren, Aubrey, Landon, Layla, and Addison; brother, Bruce. Gerald graduated from Southwest Missouri State (now Missouri State University) in 1967. He taught English and coached football, basketball and track until 1972 in Missouri. Gerald entered the sales business in 1972. He moved to Orlando, Florida in 1977 and reentered education field in 1983, teaching English and coaching basketball at Bishop Moore High School, the University High School. Gerald retired from teaching in 2010. He loved family gatherings, his grandchildren and his friends. He enjoyed playing golf, college basketball and music. He is a lifelong fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He also enjoyed cruises, traveling and casinos. A Private Service will be held by the family at a later date.
