On Wednesday, July 6, 2022, Joan (Clark) Overby, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 86. Joan was born on Dec. 31 ,1935 in Dry Fork, VA to the late Lawrence and Ola Clark. After graduating from high school in 1954, she began her business career at Peoples Savings and Loan in Danville, VA. She rose to the position of Vice President before moving to Orlando, FL in 1971. She married Clyde T. Overby in 1958 and they had one son, Clyde T. (Chuck) Overby, Jr. After a 28-year career with Gould’s Pumps in Orlando, Joan retired and devoted time to the United Methodist Church in College Park, FL. She was an active volunteer with the United Methodist Women and the Christian Service Center of Orlando. She was known for her candid, open communication style and her support for children of all ages as well as her love of dogs. She was a compassionate and caring soul who was quick to volunteer when needed. She is survived by her son, Chuck Overby and wife Lisa; her grandson, Clyde T. Overby, III; her nephew Ted Adkins and her grandniece Alexis Adkins; her sisters-in-law: Gentrice Floyd, Brenda Motsinger and Debbie Reynolds. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband, Clyde T Overby, Sr. and her siblings: Denny and Dianne.
