Karen Dyer

September 17, 1963 — June 15, 2022

Orlando, FL.

Karen Caudill Dyer, 58, Orlando, passed away June 15, 2022 after an unrelenting, valiant fight against an aggressive brain tumor. Karen was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, mentor and friend. She was our shining star and a bright light of love, energy, brilliance and beauty.

Karen was a highly regarded trial lawyer, whose passion and skill were well known nationwide. She graduated from the University of Florida, receiving both her accounting and law degrees from her beloved alma mater. During her career, she clerked for the Honorable G. Kendall Sharp and practiced law with Carlton Fields, became a founding partner of Boies, Schiller and Flexner law firm, and recently become a shareholder of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP. Karen was known professionally for her indefatigable preparation, wit and courtroom determination.

Karen loved Gator football, her family, last-minute travels around the world, spending quality time with close friends, and her beloved dog Emmy. She was an enthusiastic entertainer and relished popping champagne for almost any occasion but especially on Lady Victory voyages. Karen was always prepared for work and for fun, and was well known for pulling both high heels and a chilled bottle of Veuve Clicquot from her handbag.

Karen was preceded in death by her father, Richard Warren (Dick) Caudill. She is survived by her mother, Loretta; sons, John H. Dyer III (Trey) and his wife Hannah Zuk Dyer and Andrew Warren Dyer (Drew); sister, P Gale Hadaway (Tim), brother Michael Caudill (Elizabeth "Bebsie"), and Rick Caudill (Lisa).

Karen's life will be celebrated with a private service. Those who wish to express their sympathy may make a contribution in her memory to either the American Cancer Society or the National Wildlife Fund, in honor of Karen's participation in its Adopt a Polar Bear program.
