Kalil "Kelly" Aide

August 24, 1932 — October 24, 2022

Orlando

Kalil “Kelly” George Aide passed away peacefully the morning of October 24, 2022.  Kelly’s full life began in Winsted, Connecticut on August 24, 1932, as a first generation American, born to the late George and Mary Aide, both immigrants from Lebanon.  The family moved to Florida around 1937 and Kelly spent the remainder of his youth in Orlando, FL.

He graduated from Orlando High School in 1950, and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving throughout the Korean War.  He attended Florida Southern College and graduated with a dual degree in Journalism and Political Science in 1957.  He worked as a newspaper reporter for the California Sun and then the Orlando Morning Sentinel (now Orlando Sentinel) when he married his wife, Joyce Wilder in 1962. They lived in Cape Canaveral and Kelly ran a successful business school in Cocoa Beach.  After selling the business, Kelly reluctantly accepted a job in sales, a profession he would fall in love with and continue until his retirement.

Kelly loved to play golf, board games and cards.  He was a masterful bridge player and enjoyed spirited conversations about sports, history and even politics and religion.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Wilder Aide; his daughter, Teri Suzanne Aide; his grandson, Cooper Kalil Aide Harris and his nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Kelly was predeceased by his brother Ned, and his sister Barbara Aide Shaheen.
